IT Director, Head of Commercial Lines, Personal Lines and Bonds Technology                 2015 – 2017

Increased responsibilities to include Personal Lines business. Charged with supporting all profit centers in the company for application development and testing.

  • Initiated a strategic plan for implementing an API Gateway solution for third party data retrieval and external partner data requests.
  • Established 2017 expansion program estimates for cost and duration.
  • Delivered a 6-state expansion program on time and under budget in 2016.
  • Recovered a new product program in Q3/Q4 of 2015 by establishing new projections for cost, capacity, and duration. All deliveries were on time and within expected budgets.

  • Delivered a redesigned Agent Portal solution using IBM Portal.
  • Implemented a new enterprise-wide website, www.Kemper.com.
  • Created a resource capacity management tool and process that provided detailed visibility into how resource estimates would impact strategic project planning.

Executive liaison responsible for improving collaboration, identifying and addressing process improvements, and fostering good will between 3 separate companies and the newly created Shared Services Company.

  • Established vision for enterprise-wide IT controls.  Led team through vendor selection and implementation of the first project using the Infogix suite of products.
  • Developed strategic plan for utilizing a technology architectural path to handle back-end processing of policy and claims data for the enterprise data warehouse, GL reporting, internal BI reporting, and bureau/regulatory reporting.
  • Created a charge-back process for the Shared Services Company to be utilized across the enterprise.
  • Fashioned and implemented a financial reporting process for the corporation’s largest project at $125MM – a new policy and billing system.
  • Directed the enterprise’s bureau reporting, statistical compliance, and various financial duties.

Manage the transition of staff, strategic planning and general responsibilities from Unitrin/Kemper to AmTrust.


  • Oversaw for the successful transition of business supporting applications and shutdown of terminated applications.

Contributed to defining a successful business model for the company, including state strategies for profitable growth utilizing analyses of class code performance, independent agency performance, and knowledge of legal pressures in certain states and regions. Handled IT strategic planning, staffing, budget, all software development, infrastructure and system maintenance.

  • Moved the company to NCCI and ISO standards to reduce expenses in maintaining system customizations and company specific forms.
  • Limited the class codes accepted in the northwest due to a rise in construction defect cases.
  • Enhanced Commercial Lines Underwriting Workflow Management System to include policy renewals.
  • Technical oversight for the CSC BPO/ITO outsourcing arrangement:
    • Policy administration and billing system customizations
    • Policy processing, printing, mailing and lockbox functions
    • Conversion strategy of renewal policies
    • Statistical reporting and DOI (Departments of Insurance) data calls
